The Embassy of Nepal, Colombo organized a reception on the occasion of the Constitution Day and National Day of Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal at Taj Samundra Hotel, Colombo on 19 September 2019.

The program commenced with the national anthems of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka and the Federal Democratic Republic of Nepal followed by the welcome speech of Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy of Nepal in Colombo. The Charge d’ Affaires threw light upon the myriad aspects of Nepal- Sri Lanka relations. He emphasized upon the already happily subsisting relation between the two countries and underscored the need for more interaction through trade, tourism and investment.

The Charge d’ Affaires of the Embassy went further to promote the upcoming visit Nepal Year 2020 through his speech. He highlighted the main touristic attractions of Nepal and apprised about the liberal tourism policy implemented by the government aimed at bringing 2 million tourists in Visit Nepal Year. He added Nepal can be an adrenaline adventure, a cultural eye opener, or a life-changing experience and urged the invitees to travel Nepal at least once in their lifetime.

The Embassy aptly utilized the occasion to promote Visit Nepal Year 2020 and the main attractions of Nepal by displaying photographs of main tourist destinations, mountains, cultural and natural heritages in the Ball room. The Video of Nepal’s main tourist destinations, cultural diversity and natural beauty were played on the screen inside the hall throughout the program.

Around 120 guests graced the occasion including the guest of Honour, Hon’ble Gamini Jayawickrama Perera , Minister of Buddhasasana and Wayamba Development, high level officers of the Government of Sri Lanka, members of the diplomatic corps in Colombo, Business persons, media representatives and Nepali community in the island.
